Olaniyi Omojuwa was born in Lagos on the 4th of June 1971. After his secondary school education at Kosofe College , Ketu in 1988, he took part in a one-year Art and Design Course in 1989 at the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture and graduated in 1990 winning the overall best student award. He later joined Studio 13 at Okokomaiko, Lagos , where he worked as an artist under Mufu Onifade, the thenmanager of the Studio.
Two years later, Olaniyi proceeded to Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo , Nigeria to study Fine and Applied Arts and obtained his National Diploma in 1994. He worked at Aro Graphics for one year and with Mr. Seni Jawando in 1996. He later obtained his Higher National Diploma in Graphics from Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo in 1998. He had his National Youth Service in Suleja , Niger State, Nigeria from 1999 to 2000. He has been working with Longman Nigeria Plc since 2001 and is now Senior Design Artist. He also holds Diploma in Publishing (2002) from the Nigerian Publishers Association, Ibadan .
Olaniyi is the first student of Araism, having trained under Mufu Onifade in 1990. He was part of the early stages of Araism experimentation which later transformed into a full-fledged technique in contemporary Art.
STATEMENT
We cannot escape art in any way we live. Art makes us whole and brings us (to) existence. We may not agree to say we have given our life to art, but no one can deny the fact that art has given us life. Hence, we all must learn to appreciate Art as an indispensable part of our life.
